Gotta keep moving
Keeping balls in the air goes with the territory. Always always something happening. A system change, a new hire, a resignation, product developments, customer complaints, new business, on-boarding, implementation. Hustle, hustle. Gotta keep moving.
The occasional ball drops. Understandable, acceptable, c’est la vie? Not necessarily.
The remedy, fewer balls.
That doesn’t mean fewer projects, standing still, less hustle.
It does mean a focus on finishing what you start before moving on to the next thing.
It means the same number of projects in less time with less irritation, fewer do-overs, less re-working, fewer apologies and an absolute minimum of at-the-customer fixes. It means doing what you say you’re going to do, even if that leaves the odd opportunity hanging for another day.
It means building the company that you’d like to work with.
Skippy strategy: It’s not how you start, it’s how you finish.
