Pushed aside

Structures

There are two kinds of problems. There are always two kinds of problems. They’re the two kinds of problems we spend our time thinking about, digging into and fixing. Problem is, one kind of problem gets in the way of the other kind of problem.

The first kind are of the day to day. A crisis here, a fire fight there, a customer call in the middle, sort this detail, massage that issue. The kind of things that arrive in an inbox and demand attention. All. The. Time.

The other kind are the structural. A lack of clarity between this department and that, a weakness in the strategy, a revamp of our brand, the decision about this product or that market. Each takes time. Each is voluntary. Each get’s pushed aside by the inbox.

Skippy strategy: Don’t let your inbox get in the way of strategic, structural, meaningful change.
