Something urgent?
We’ve all been in meetings where there are big things to talk about, probably too many of them and not enough time anyway, when something urgent (but not so important, and maybe not to urgent) gets thrown on the table and everybody gets sucked into to talking and talking and talking about the urgent and no time is left for the important. And so another opportunity, another week, another month goes by when we don’t get clarity, we don’t get everyone working together and we don’t deal with the things that will have the most impact on what we’re trying to do.
Stop this happening. Don’t let anything elbow its way onto the real-time agenda without first reviewing, for just five minutes, progress and holdups against agreed goals. That gives perspective to know where we really need to dig in and spend time.
Skippy strategy: Start with goals.
