Write one

Bridge

If you could predict how the project would go, from now until the finish line, how would it look? No, I mean it, how would it look?

What’s the next thing that needs to happen, and the thing after that, and the thing after that? As you string the pillers together, they’ll get less clear. Start the list with actual deliverables and, when you have to, segue into descriptive milestones. Under the milestones, capture the actual deliverables you can think of now – knowing it’s only a best guess and that you’ll get back to it every time you think of something else to stick on the list.

Give yourself fifteen minutes and a whiteboard. That’s the plan.

Next step? The first thing you put on the list. After that, the next thing. Turtles all the way down.

Skippy strategy: If you haven’t got a plan, write one. Now follow it.
