Get outside

Outside

For absolutely sure, you spend a lot (a lot) of time inside your organisation. Whether on your own with email, or buried in meetings, it’s a fair guess that you put most of your time into things that happen on the inside. Which is great for operational awareness, and might even be the fastest way to push things along, but it’s not much good for actual results.

That’s not to say that internal achievements aren’t important. Every process tweaked, person aligned and asset arranged into a neat row – all good for the world.

But actual results happen outside your organisation. They’re about contribution to a greater whole. Whether for associate stakeholder or external customer, the rubber hits the road when other people – who you don’t control – do their thing with your thing.

That’s where you find your greatest contribution.

Skippy strategy: Get outside and spend time seeing actual results.
