How to moan?
Sometimes you find yourself in a situation where there’s a lot wrong. Everywhere you look there are things not to like and decisions that stink – or at least, they stink to you.
If you’re not careful, you can turn into the moaner who sticks fingers into wounds and bitches about the world.
If that’s you, consider:
– Is everyone else happy? Maybe it’s group delusions, happy talk, alcohol, the emperor’s clothes or … more likely it’s you. Think again.
– Is everyone else miserable? There are genuine issues – the emperor, the court, the direction of travel, weak thinking, caprice. Take a different tack.
Call out issues as an enquiry, “This is what I see …, How should we deal with it?” Identify what needs fixing and ways to fix it. Look for the upside. Build consensus. Get busy.
Best advice: don’t moan.
Skippy strategy: Don’t be Pollyanna, do be someone people want to listen to.
