Something else
When you come up against bureaucracy, dominated by obstinate and wilfully unhelpful rules, where the default answer is no, where your time is an unconsidered concept, when the only active thing you can do is submit to whatever indignity they want whilst waiting as long as they say … you know, those times … you have two choices.
Choice one is to get angry, jump up and down, shout into the wind, steam, send objecting and objectionable correspondence to every place you can think of, be difficult on the phone and waste energy, energy, energy getting nowhere.
Choice two is to live with the misery and get on with something else whilst you wait.
Take a book, write a book, do your work, invent and build the future, make contact with people you find interesting or inspiring. Use that energy for something good.
Skippy strategy: Don’t waste energy shouting in the wind.
