Change the inputs

It’s not working.
What should we do about it?
More of the same.
It’s almost a guarantee that when something isn’t working it won’t suddenly start working unless you do something different.
We know this – outcomes don’t change unless we change the inputs that makes them happen.
Problem is, the path of least resistance is so much easier so we try it and try it and try it again. The easy path is to keep treating the underperforming team member with kid gloves and pulled feedback, it’s to stay with the unhelpful supplier, it’s to tinker again with the numbers in the financial model in the hope that they’ll make the actual numbers go in the right direction, it’s to continue making life difficult for our customers and living with the dream that they’ll tell happy stories to their friends.
Skippy strategy: Changed outcomes need changed inputs.
