At the door

There’s the plan. How we’ll achieve our objective with the resources at our disposal. Most people stop their planning here. Then there’s the deeper plan, how we’ll overcome the obvious obstacles we can foresee on the way to achieving our objectives with the resources at our disposal. Almost everybody else stops their planning here.
Then there’s the reality check. Where is our weakness? What resources do we not have that will prevent us from pulling off the deeper plan? What will our customers say about what we’re up to and what will our competitors do when they hear about it?
And when they’ve done that … one in a hundred actually does the work to fill the gaps or build around them. To leave the fantasy outside the door in the morning and deal with the reality they find on the inside.
