The standards

Roofline

Wouldn’t it be lovely if we only had to do the things we wanted to do and in the timeframes we fancied, even when we changed our minds? We’d never be under external pressure, we could swan about in our own good time, picking and choosing the most enjoyable and creative tasks.

Unless, I suppose, you’re the undisputed king of your heap, it’s not really like that.

We do have to do things we may not want to do, because they come with the territory. We are put under external pressure to deliver. We are held accountable on deadlines and deliverables.

So why do we let people on our team act that way? Why do we let it slide, why do we tread on egg shells, why do we find excuses and justifications?

It’s our job to set and hold the standard.

Skippy strategy: Everyone working to the same standard.
