Management is problem solving, in a good way. Not, for the moment, solving the problems presented by your value proposition or your customers or suppliers, although, it is that. Management is, for now, solving the problem of people. Your people. People who walk around with issues and excitement and biases and interests and motivations and obstacles. People who know what they’re doing and don’t. People that work easily and seamlessly with others or who are better off on solo projects, some that are interested and passionate, and some that are hoping to get away with as little effort or care as possible.

Management is solving the problem of bringing all the talents to the table and getting the best from each – then dealing with the fall out when you can’t.
