Those processes age

Bars

At the beginning of things there are no systems. Everything is entirely human and everything can be manipulated to fit with whatever requirement or priority or voice is loudest. We make it up as we go along.

Over time, we come across the same thing over and over, we put processes in place. How to do this, how to do that, how to invoice, how to place an order, how to conduct an annual review, how to do everything.

Over time, as the world continues to turn, some of those processes age beyond their sell-by date but whether by fear of change, vested interests, or lack of attention or authority or initiative … they stay in place.

And the systems once invented to help us do things, become systems designed to stop things.

Skippy strategy: If your systems are in the way of how you want to work … change them out.
