Let’s say there are three imperatives of leadership: team building, product building, organisation building.
The organisation delivers the product or service with its team.
The theory then: the best performing organisation are those where highly motivated teams work together to deliver products and services that create the greatest customer value. The organisation’s contribution is to be clear about where it’s heading and why it’s chosen that direction, and to provide the resources to do the things it needs to do to get there.
The most consistent and motivated teams are the ones where the people who are on the line to make it all happen have a strong hand in putting the plan together in the first place and in working the problems they face when the plan faces the challenges of reality.
