Every meeting

Every meeting has an objective. Maybe it’s to update, to build consensus, to clarify next steps, to examine and lay bare, to understand, to introduce, to have another go-around, to share.
Let’s start with that. Let’s resolve that at the beginning of every meeting, the person who instigated the gathering will set out the purpose of getting everyone in the room on this day and at this time. Let’s all agree to agree that purpose or add our own perspective so everyone understands what we want to get out of the time together.
Let’s make sure that by the time we start the actual discussion, everyone is clear about the objectives and has committed to working in their service and staying as focused and on task as they can – at least for the agreed parcel of time.
Skippy strategy: Agree the purpose and process of the meeting … then meet the agreement.
