The wider scheme

Let’s assume (hope) that everyone knows their objectives, that they know what they and their team is expected to achieve in any given period. Their number. Their accountability. But let’s not leave it there. Let’s also make sure that everyone knows that it’s a team sport, and that the team is bigger than them or their department – that the team is the entire business unit or organisation. Let’s therefore make sure that everyone knows where their team fits into the wider scheme and how their efforts contribute to making other teams hit their objective too. Then let’s make it clear what each team can expect from other teams and departments that will help towards their team’s success.
In other words, let’s make sure from the start that the emphasis should be on everyone winning together.
