Same problems

Wouldn’t it be lovely if you could just cut and past solutions to your problems? That you could take something that works somewhere else and drop it into your own organisation like a new air filter. One size fits all.

Problem is … you can’t just jam it in there.

There’s context, and players, and partners, and skills, and hopes, and dreams, and direction of travel, and legacy, and specifics specifics specifics.

In other words … it might work, it might not.

Generic understanding makes generic solutions look good – why not copy and paste?

Specific understanding makes generic solutions look like square pegs.

You have to deal with specifics – check for fit before reaching for hammer.

Skippy strategy: What each team does has to be right for that team, in that place, at that time.
