Once upon a time there was a manager who didn’t know what it was to manage, and she huffed and she puffed until nobody paid her any attention as they got on with doing exactly what they wanted, just like before she arrived.
And then she realised, management is the art of engaging your people so they give their best. That it’s not about huffing and puffing, it’s about clearing the path.
So she took a minute, involved them in working out what ”the best” meant in the context of each person and this place … and then everyone worked together to do that.

And the moral of the story … it’s not about you, it’s about them.
The right way to manage is the one that allows you and your team to do the best work possible in this place at this time.
