What would you change?
Every management consultant comes armed with The Question.
It’s always wrapped with a lot of poking around. Quizzing the team on what they do and where they fit in the world. Variations on strengths and weaknesses. Diagnostic tools, four quadrant grids and number crunching. Eventually, inevitably, as they build trust with people who see how the jigsaw is built, they ask, “What would you change?”
The answer: “This and this and this.”
The next step: filtering, context and triangulation.
Why wait? Why call in consultants?
Every organisation that’s been around for a while has lots of received practices, baked into the fabric, that no longer make sense. If you didn’t take them at face value, what would you change?
